![]() ![]() New Super Luigi U has much shorter levels so the concepts don't all that much room to grow.Īnd yes, as multiple people have said, Luigi's weird physics is based off of how he controls in Lost Levels, and also how he controls in Super Mario Advance 2 and Super Mario Advance 4, which despite being ports, had unique Luigi physics (granted, in Super Mario Advance 4, this is only with world e or having a special e-card that modifies Luigi's physics for the main campagin).įor the record, New Super Mario Bros U is actually my favorite 2D Mario due to said level design philisophy combined with a meaty and difficult challenge mode. New Super Mario Bros U in its later levels tends to have a formula of: introduce a concept. I have to doubt that those people played much of NSMBU if that's the case, New Super Mario Bros U and New Super Luigi U have entirely different design philosophies. Hopefully it's not another game starved overrated Nintendo game because holy shit NSMBU actually offends me. I'm taking this back to the store tomorrow and getting Xenoblade instead. I'm so disappointed by this game that I almost don't want to take anyone who praised it seriously regarding platformers ever again.įor the second time ever I will be getting rid of a Mario game. Were the Wii U years so bad that you had to label a substandard 2D Mario game one of the best in the franchise? ![]() I'm amazed that Nintendo fans praised this game to high heavens not only on Wii U but also Switch. ![]() I had a grimace the entire time I played NSMBU besides one level. Normally, when playing any Mario game I've got a wide smile across my face. Gone is the puzzle solving and exploration of World. Gone is the incredible multi-tiered levels and detail of 3. Almost every "challenge" level I played relied on gimmicks and I was fighting the controls the entire goddamn time. It is the complete opposite to the putrid controls in NSMBU. Imagine that: not fighting the controls in Mario of all games! In fact, the game is so fun I'd get to world 4-5 in one sitting without knowing it because I was having so much fun! Imagine that - fun in a Mario game. In fact, while playing this monstrosity after a few worlds I would turn the Switch NES app to see if I was crazy, and play SMB3. Now, I know you're about to say that NSMBU is based off Mario 3 physics but Mario 3 is far more precise. ![]()
